Family Fun near Old Town San Diego

Bazaar del Mundo
An afternoon out with the kids can include a visit to the Bazaar del Mundo. The children can take their own money for purchases at the little shops, and the family can choose a restaurant with outside table from which to enjoy the street entertainment. Sometimes the street musicians invite everyone to come dancing. The Bazaar atmosphere is festive and happy. Children love to see the sights if the trip doesn't last so long that they get overtired. The marketplace is also great for Christmas gift shopping.

Heritage Park
A great way to interest children in history, the Victorian village in Heritage Park is a pleasant place to take the family. Exploring the homes and the historic Jewish temple, young and old will grow in their appreciation for the story of the early settlers who felt it was worthwhile to ship furniture and other belongings to make their homes as much like the ones they left back east as they could.

Mission Valley Family YMCA
While the YMCA is crowded at times, it has a wonderful outdoor pool and an indoor pool as well. Numerous sports and fitness equipment is there for use. Families can play together, or individuals can take classes. The place is geared for children, and encouraging healthy exercise. The entire property is kept extremely clean and safe with attendants and lifeguards on duty. The YMCA at Mission Valley is an organized facility.

Mormon Battalion Historic Site
Children and adults can be fascinated and learn more about the Mormon here in San Diego. The story about this battalion of men and women marched as a military unit to this point from their start in Iowa is amazing. The visitor center is lovely, and the guides are friendly. Entrance is free to the public, and young and old can pan for gold after the tour. The guides help children feel that they are part of the history of the site.

Presidio Hills Golf Course
A short chip and put golf course, this is the spot for golf beginners. Young and old can have fun together with a golf ball, chipping wedge and putter. The prices are reasonable. Phil Michelson and other professional golfers have played the course more than once. A couple of hours is all that is needed to finish playing a round. Families can have fun golfing together at Presidio Hills Golf Course.
